Pentagon Warns House, Senate Defense Panels of More WikiLeaks Documents
By Tony Capaccio - Nov 24, 2010 12:01 AM ET

The Pentagon warned the U.S. Senate and House Armed Services Committees that the website WikiLeaks.org “intends to release several hundred thousand” classified U.S. State Department cables as soon as Nov. 26.

The documents “touch on an enormous range of very sensitive foreign policy issues,” Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs Elizabeth King wrote yesterday in an e-mail to the defense panels.

King said The New York Times, the U.K.’s The Guardian and Der Spiegel of Germany “are each currently working with WikiLeaks to coordinate the release of these State Department documents.”

The Pentagon “had indications for some time” that WikiLeaks planned to release more documents, Whitman said in an interview yesterday. “As a result, we felt we had a responsibility to notify key leaders with oversight responsibility of the department like we normally do,” he said. State Department spokesman Philip J. Crowley said that WikiLeaks has previously said that it plans to release additional classified documents.

5. Allegations of Assange's non-cooperation with authorities have been
greatly exaggerated. See the Financial Times, no less: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/b5852504-f592-11df-99d6-00144feab49a.html#axzz16BN5JFqI

He was in Switzerland recently to testify before the UN Commission on Human Rights. He may ultimately seek asylum in Switzerland and would have a lot of support for such a petition.

6. The ironic thing is that nobody is actually doing anything with the information
that is leaked. I see a whole lot of rucus being made about the actual leaking part, but I guess people are either scared or apathetic about addressing the information in the leaked documents. strange

7. Well, it's a lot of words without pictures
and, you know, there's the whole American attention span issue, unfortunately.

I think that when The White House Transcripts came out more Americans read it, proportionally speaking, than would read something that long now. I hope I'm wrong.

Maybe if the Dancing With The Stars folks danced to a rap version of the text people would get the info.

Sad.

Don't know -- it might give people time to actually catch up with the info --

but maybe too many will be caught up in family stuff -- and eating!!

15. So long as the Powers That Be can keep us all fixated on the messenger
rather than the message - and keep discrediting him - the message itself is treated as ho-hum business as usual.

9. Wiki Bleeps
Has Wiki Leaks published anything about this:

Somehow I don't think it has. Wiki Leaks begins to look more and more like another elite tool and mass diversion.
