I doubt that but nothing would surprise me now. China isn't very amused about us possibly putting tactical nukes back into their backyard.

42. My crooked uncle once told me owing the bank $100,000 and the bank owns you. Owe the bank $1,000,000
and you own the bank. The banks never called his bluff until the number was big enough to interest the IRS. But that's another story.

The point is that its not in the interest of those holding trillions of dollars in US dept to shake it up too much. Remember how the Japanese made everybody afraid in the nineties for buying up American companies and Hawaian and California real estate. The Japanese resold most at a loss within six or so years. The debtor is the tail that shakes a multi trillion dollar dog. It was one thing for Mao's China to want to bring the running dog imperial paper tiger Amsrica to the ground and they aren't holding any American debt. But it's another when you have one country two systems and people have a material life style and you have loans based on the liquid equitity built up in the last twenty years given in US dollars to the US. T-notes are payable in US dollars.

At worst loan sharks never kill you, they only break your arm. Steal your jobs - "right-shoring them", Ms Fiorino said. And then you pay them off and borrow again later.

Sen Boehner: where are the freaking jobs?

So it looks like the announcement will be at 12:30. I'm guessing they will announce that the U.S. Carrier Group in the area should leave to reduce tensions.

That's a TASTE of the well-hidden tension in China. They know if things go sideways they will fall apart. Plus, they don't want millions of North Korean refugees on their door.

29. Nothing about China's announcement
Right now most of the tweets are about SK's Defense Ministry ordering all journalists to leave the island that was initially attacked. They are sending a ferry to take them all off the island by the end of the day. It said the 7 pm ferry.

TOKYO -- Talks among six nations to get North Korea to abandon its nuclear programs in return for aid and other concessions won't resume while Pyongyang works on a new uranium enrichment facility, a U.S. envoy said Tuesday.

...

The U.S. special envoy on North Korea, Stephen Bosworth, ruled out any resumption of the stalled six-party talks among the U.S., China, Russia, Japan, South Korea and North Korea while that program continues. The talks were started in 2003 in efforts to coax Pyongyang to give up its nuclear ambitions.
