STOCKHOLM (AP) — WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has filed another appeal against a court order to detain him in a rape investigation, Swedish officials said Tuesday.

The appeal was received by the Supreme Court in Stockholm on Tuesday, court spokeswoman Tove Levelind said.

Earlier this month, an appeals court rejected Assange's first appeal, upholding a district court decision to detain him for questioning.

Assange, whose whereabouts are unknown, is wanted by Sweden internationally concerning allegations against him that include rape and sexual molestation. They stem from his encounters with two Swedish women during a visit to the Nordic country in August.

1. So Ecuador will open it's country to Julian without any conditions.
I wonder how many other countries have given him an invite? I thought the D.A. said she was dropping this issue for lack of evidence?

4. First destroy his name...
(and his credibility), then have him found suicided in a hotel room. He's upset a lot of very powerful people who will stop at nothing to retain that power. I'll be shocked if he see's Christmas 2011.

5. My instinct is that Assange made the decision that greater visibility would work in his favor.
Detractors chalk it up to ego, but (although it could be BOTH) my guess is he has made a strategic decision over the course of the last year. He could be wrong. It was a judgment call.

6. I think you're correct that it will work in his favor...
but those who feel "wronged" by him aren't lacking in ego regarding what they think they can get away with or in vindictiveness. In any case, I am sure he has thought this all through quite thoroughly prior to the releases.
