Georgia Republicans give huge raises to staffers
Source: ABC news

Those records showed Congress has boosted its internal budget every year since the recession started in December 2007. The internal budget is the money set aside to pay staff. House office and staff expenses stood at $1.2 billion in 2008, and went to $1.3 billion in 2009. The budget increased again to $1.37 billion this year, and is set to equal $1.42 billion for 2011.

Georgia congressional Republicans are against government spending unless it is for them or their staffers. The two Gerogia senators increased staffers pay by over $3 million according to the ABC affiliate in Atlanta. Tom Price and Phil Gingery also gave huge pay increases to staffers.

So much for controlling government spending and these same individuals were for freezing Federal employees pay.

Can they get anymore hypocritical than this?

This makes me wonder what congressional members in other States are doing regarding pay increases for their staffers.

1. Their supporters are too stupid to discuss
While basic services are cut Republicans add to the states budget. Then they are surprised because they end up in the red....

2. State budgets
These are Federal congress members so it adds to the Federal debt and deficit.

Also, these same individuals are against extending unemployment benefits because it adds to the deficit.

And then you have Senator Kyl who is against earmarks unless they are going to Arizona.

My head hurts from the hypocrisy.

3. They deserve it. The GOP owns Georgia lock, stock, and barrel.
They did a good job of making us from one of the most progressive Southern states to one of the least.

4. I'm writing those idiots to ask that they donate an equivalent amount to our school system
Edited on Tue Nov-30-10 02:16 PM by groundloop
Georgia has drastically cut our education budget, furloughed teachers and school staff, ended limits on student/teacher ratio, etc. My kids can't bring home science, math, English, or social studies textbooks for doing homework because there's only one set per classroom. These idiots are going to get some of my wrath.
