Gunmen go on rampage: Three killed, six wounded
Source: People's Daily Online

Two suspects fired at the police on Tuesday while resisting arrest in downtown Tai'an city, East China's Shandong province, killing three policemen and wounding six others, according to the city's public security authorities.

One of the suspects was later caught by the police on Wenhua Road in the city's Taishan district, while the other one committed suicide by shooting himself at the scene, the local police said at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

The police seized a double-barreled shotgun, a handmade pistol, a dagger and more than 180 bullets from the two men.

Five policemen, two auxiliary police and two civilians were injured in the incident. Three died later in the hospital and the others are receiving treatment.

Ok, ok, anybody get the irony on this one? A SHOOT OUT and a HEADLINE you'd expect in oh the US.

Now these two were wanted for murder. That said there is an increasing mafia like activity rising there as well.

Ah times change...

3. There's always been mafia and crime here, it just never gets covered
Edited on Tue Jan-04-11 10:40 PM by HEyHEY
Cause China likes to pretend there's no crime. Most of the social problems here are discovered through crime cause politics are so sensitive. So, the government actually kneecaps crime stories.

BUt, think of all the public mass stabbings they have here.

5. I know
the mafia is not quite the cosa nostra but it is brutal... and correct me if I am wrong but it has all to do with the opium and other drug trade, as well as money laundering.

The stabbings were brutal by the way.

Oh and I posted this for you... I knew that probably it is not getting blocked, given the source. but you never know.

6. yeah, this is the only place I've seen it.
So, I don't know if the others are just slow or what.

Prostitution, opium, all that... same mafia as anywhere else, I guess.
