Jeb Bush not ruling out run for White House in 2016
Source: cfnews13

TALLAHASSEE --

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said he has not ruled out running for the White House in 2016.

At Tuesday's inauguration of Gov. Rick Scott, Bush said he will definitely not run for president in 2012.

However, when asked about 2016, the son of former President George H.W. Bush and younger brother of former President George W. Bush said, "Never say never."

Jeb Bush served as Florida's governor from 1999 to 2007. He received the loudest ovation from a predominantly Republican audience when introduced at the inaugural festivities.

1. He's eyeing Nelson's spot.
My bet is that's the one which is the safer bet.

6. Because it's the one he can win.
I think he realizes that there will never be another Bush in the WH.

He might be bitter about that since he was almost certainly the more capable brother.

14. I sincerely would be hesitant making that statement. Jeb in the Oval Office has been his dream --
-- and his father's dream -- for both of their lives.

18. I agree that it was always their dream.
George killed the dream.

Jeb isn't going to live long enough for that memory to fade sufficiently.

35. Dummyas ratings have risen a lot and the Rethugs are powerful propagandists.
The truth of who did what will soon be lost, as in Obama owns the Afghanistan War. What, Dummya is not, at a minimum, at least a text-owner?

they need some time to pass after George W's debacle.

41. We have worse than a short memory. We have a bad memory.
That's how Bush the worse got his head start in the primaries, through name recognition--recognition of the name of a surly, one-term gangster President who couldn't tell the truth about broccoli.

We remembered the name of a President who sucked, and voted for his son, who was clearly less qualified than his father... who sucked.

And what do you know? W. wound up sucking worse. Better make a note of that, America.

25. You're probably right, and that's the ticket I've been warning of to others, also. Here in FL
I see it possible that having him on the ticket, as a sitting senator could swing FL away, and that makes it awful imperative that the Dems win everything else we won last time other than say FL, VA, & IN. I'm pretty sure they'd have to win PA along with those others to win narrowly (Ohio is as always, very important, and they're suffering badly up there, so Gov Kasich more than likely won't make things better by slashing social programs and education). The thought of Mitt in the oval office in 2 years is disturbing.

13. Your memory may not be that short, but then you weren't going to vote for any Republican anyways.
In my lifetime I have seen Nixon get elected and reelected, so I'm not going to count out Bush because he is a Bush.

I think more Republicans are coming out or allowing themselves to be considered because they believe Obama to be vulnerable in 2012. If in a year from now unemployment is still in the 8-9% range they will be smelling blood in the water.

Really, in 2000 with the economy still strong and we were not at war who would have believed that Bush could beat Gore. Gore should have beaten Bush so badly that the election would not even have been remotely close even to steal.

32. put away the champagne
Bush can make himself look like a moderate, because Florida will be home to Rick Scott and Marco Rubio. Throw in Sarah palin being popular in Florida, and he can look like dennis K. in comparison.

37. With quotes like this?
In August 1994, a voter asked Jeb Bush what his administration would do to help the black community. His response (rather, two words of it) became an instant classic:

"We have elected people year after year that say, 'I'm going to do this for you,'" Bush replied. "Now it's time to strive for a society where there is equality of opportunity, not equality of results. <...> So I'm going to answer your question by saying, 'Probably nothing.' I think what we ought to do is to have a society where you go out and pursue your dreams and you're not punished."

Not to mention he hasn't been politically active since 2007 and is pro-free-trade, a Catholic (not exactly welcome by the fundies), anti-choice, a serial executor like his brother and signer of "Terri's Law".

NOT exactly a moderate no matter how badly the media tries to BS.
