DJ US House Leader DeLay: Iraq Weapons "Totally Irrelevant"

BAGHDAD (AP)--U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, on a tour of
Baghdad, said it is "totally irrelevant" that evidence has not been found
proving that Saddam Hussein was building weapons of mass destruction.
Brushing aside the main reason President George W. Bush said he launched the
war, DeLay said the only thing that mattered was that Iraqis are rid of a
dictator.
He and Florida Republican Congressman Ander Crenshaw, toured the Iraqi capital
in a long convoy with Apache attack helicopters flying overhead.
DeLay criticized both Iraqis and Americans for being too impatient about
improvements in Iraqis daily lives, saying open shops and available merchandise
on the streets of Baghdad showed the country is slowly rebuilding.
"You can see evidence of a country coming back to life. People are going out
and buying satellite dishes. The streets are clean," Delay said. "It seems the
Iraqis are just as impatient as the Americans. These things take time."
