Mystery of mass animal death epidemic deepens after 8,000 turtle doves fall dead in Italy with stran
Source: DailyMail

Thousands of dead turtle doves rained down on roofs and cars in an Italian town in the latest in a growing spate of mass animal deaths across the globe.

Residents in Faenza described the birds falling to the ground like 'little Christmas balls' with strange blue stains on their beaks.

Initial tests on up to 8,000 of the doves indicated that the blue stain could have been caused by poisoning or hypoxia.

3. It's the Rupture. Just a minor change, though.
Jebus decided that people weren't worth the hassle, so he's grabbing the birds instead. They're all flying around those empty mansions in his father's house now.

5. Next: patridges in pear trees doomed
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

These deaths are horrifying. Either some new military weapon is being tested, or the number of toxins in the environment has reached a critical level, IMHO.

......Here's a story about dead birds raining from the sky in Western Australia in June of 2009.

In early January 2009 there were dead birds falling out of the sky in Sommerset, NJ.

Actually, check out this story from 2007 in the Daily Mail: Dead Birds in Austin Texas and Esperance Australia at the same time!

8. It's been happening since forever. It's just captured people's
imaginations this time, along with some bored reporters. The 24/7 news cycle strikes again, along with an Internet that lets every local story become an international event.

10. yes, it would seem you are correct.
However, it also seems the numbers are much higher with the most recent deaths.

11. Somewhat higher, but there are also cases with equivalent numbers,
in other years, if you look at all the records. Most interesting are the first quarter records.

13. Thousands of birds falling from sky, hundreds of fish dying on the shores
thousands of crabs dead on the beach. It happens all the time. Why just last week I saw a flock kill themselves. Move along nothing to see here. All is perfectly normal. :sarcasm:

14. Animal deaths may have happened before
but how many times have we heard of so many deaths within weeks of one another? I am sure we all remember news about beached whales, dead fish and birds falling from the sky, dead crabs on the beach, but how many times have these things gone on simultaneously?? Just in the time the internet has been active and we have had access to more information, this phenomena has not been heard of to this degree.

The rate seems to have gone up dramatically..and it does not help matters that people make fun of concerned people, or come up with stupid answers like firecrackers.

19. not really
This is akin to the summer of the shark. An interesting phenomenon that has captured our attention and is now being reported on and recorded more by people. Shark attacks still happen at about the same rate and mass animal deaths will too.

29. Great point.
The article misstated things. It should have said, "Thousands of dead turtle doves rained down on roofs and cars in an Italian town in the latest in a growing spate of reports about mass animal deaths across the globe."

We assume that the number of reports is tied to the number of incidents and consequently an increase in reports can only be due to an increase in the incidents reported. There's no reason for this assumption to be true.

18. Mass Animal Deaths have always been happening but I never remember ....
..... these #s and in such a short time period. Is this a function of the net and more reporting
or is it something else?

The fish in brazil can be explained by an algae bloom.
The fish in Chesapeake Bay can be explained by cold.
The fish in Arkansas can be explained by disease.

Bird's falling from the sky show blunt force trauma is very perplexing.

Because the reporting on these deaths tend to be spotty on real facts it is very hard to get a real
handle on what is going on.

20. They've tracked the Arkansas bird deaths to the use of illegal fireworks
which were set off next to the night roost.

21. They Seem To Be In A Big Rush To Have The Answer
That alone would make me suspicious. Our government takes its' sweet time to ever admit there is a problem. Now it's just one of those "matter of fact" answers that should solve all those deaths of birds, fish etc in just a few sentences. Weather..fireworks..suicidal tendencies, bad judgement of nesting locations. The answers are far too simple in what has to be a far more reaching problem. We have had bad weather, fireworks etc all going on at the same time but never so many stories of bird/fish deaths. Plus the fact that this is going on all over the world at nearly the same time. I wonder if anyones pets have acted strangely--not from any organic reason but perhaps that sense they often have when something bizarre is going on. Have the Raptor people come out yet? Has Fred Phelps group come out with sign of fish and birds at funerals yet? If not I'm sure will won't be long before they are.

25. Is it possible this all
stems from the use of corexit on the Gulf oil disaster? Did this stuff evaporate with the water into the rain clouds? And, did it get out of the gulf, move up the East Coast all the way to Britain evaporating into the rain that falls on Europe also?
