Lawmaker brings concealed gun to 'gun-free' Arizona Senate

PHOENIX — A new state lawmaker is bringing her concealed gun into the Senate despite signs on the doors making the building a weapons-free zone.

And the president of the Senate doesn't intend to do anything about that.

Sen. Lori Klein, R-Anthem, said she has had a gun for years. When a new law kicked in last year allowing anyone to have a concealed weapon, she began carrying a .380 Ruger in her purse.

"I believe that my responsibility is to protect myself,'' she told Capitol Media Services. "I'm comfortable carrying. And I had no intention of creating any concern.''

The official policy at the Arizona Senate is that weapons must be surrendered. The Senate provides lockers where they can be secured while people are in the building.

Bounders have been created via gun free zones. You would think that this lawmaker would follow this regulations....

4. Simple. If the weapons-free zone is a state law, then arrest her.

No one is above the law.

Kinda reminds me of the wide-stance Senator who thought his Senate business card was a "Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free" card. Doesn't work that way.

Is this a law for everyone or do they make exceptions? Really can't the president of the senate be FORCED to enforce the law or forced out for not enforceing the law. In civil law and property disputes you can sue in MANDAMUS which forces the town or municipality to enforce the laws on the books.

I recognize that a gun fetish is personal and should be protected as privacy.
If someone needs to fire off a bullet, there are places where they can do that.
Do they really need to fire off 30 rounds?
Do the rest of us need to be in the way of a fucking fetish?
YES, when it is taken public and can kill, mame and devastate lives.
However, I support the right to shoot oneself any number of times (without changing rounds)
in the privacy of one's home.

And the sooner they do it, the better.

And the president of the Arizona Senate is interpreting it that way.

Out West, guns are not the scary things that Easterners imagine them to be.
