WikiLeaks condemns GOP embargo call
Source: The Hill

WikiLeaks is denouncing the Republican chairman of the House Homeland Security committee for calling for an embargo on the group.

Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, accused Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), the panel's chairman, of seeking an embargo "on the truth" with his call for a ban on Wikileaks from doing business in the U.S.

"King wants to put a Cuban style trade embargo around the truth—forced on US citizens at the point of a gun," Assange said in a release dated January 12.

Assange called WikiLeaks, which has released thousands of classified U.S. military and diplomatic documents, a "publishing organization," and insisted the site has not hurt anyone with its publications.

That's bipartisan progress.

8. You mean the "moderates" (don't surrender positive words to absurd positions).

4. Hey......after 9/11 didn't the gov't
say, 'If you haven't done anything wrong/illegal, why should you care if we tap your phones or look at your emails?'

Now the shoe is on the other foot.

Wikileaks is the best thing to have come along in decades. And Julian is Person of the Year for me. No has shown more courage in the face of fascism except for maybe FDR and Eleanor.

5. The GOP should be condemned for betraying their oath to defend the Constitution.

6. It's a new site.
It's no different than many US newspapers that have publicized classified documents. You want better security, then prevent leaks. But if it's espionage, it's not being conducted by Wikileaks.

9. I wish they would.
But then The Man would just take over the Democratic Party. If they haven't already.
