First Digital Newspaper for iPad
Source: Ecuador Times

The Daily will be the name of the first newspaper for IPad that will be launched in few days.

The digital media belongs to News Corp. and will be officially unveiled at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco on January 19, where Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, maker of the iPad, and Rupert Murdoch, CEO of News Corp. will go according to people close to the project.

It is unknown yet if a charge would exist for the service, but it will cover general news, culture, entertainment, and also will include videos.

1. You won't see me subscribing to that POS!
Great move on Murdoch's part though. Think of how many subscribers he'll pick up because of the novelty of the medium.

Hundreds of thousands of fresh, malleable, weak minds to fill with his BS.

9. What are you talking about?
"Hundreds of thousands of fresh, malleable, weak minds to fill with his BS."

Only the most enlightened among us use Apple products. The weak-minded commoners use PCs.

2. Murdoch's iPad paper the Daily delays launch
The launch of Rupert Murdoch's eagerly anticipated iPad-only newspaper the Daily has been delayed by several weeks.

All Things Digital, a technology website owned by the Wall Street Journal, reported that News Corporation and Apple, the project collaborators, have cancelled a launch planned for Wednesday.

A News Corp insider confirmed to MediaGuardian.co.uk that the launch had been delayed. It is thought that the delay will be weeks rather than months.
...
It is believed Apple is still working on changes to iTunes, which will introduce a subscription service that will automatically bill the Daily's users on a weekly or monthly basis for the cost of receiving the download each morning.

4. Cognitive dissonance.
From reading DU I know that Apple is pure good and must be worshiped. But News Corp is pure evil and must be condemned. I guess if Steve Jobs is eager to partner with Rupert Murdoch, Murdoch must be a great guy after all.

5. I am a self-proclaimed Apple "fangirl" but
You can bet your bottom dollar that I won't be subscribing to "The Daily" just because Apple says or promotes it heavily. I think if it was widely reported that NewsCorp. owns the Daily and NewsCorp is Faux News, then one of two things will happen. It will not do well and Murdoch will lose money on the venture or it will force Conservatives to purchase Apple products.

Anyway, I think, in the abstract, that Murdoch is testing the waters of digital news and other publishers are watching closely. They (newspaper publishers) have to find a way to make money or go out of business.

8. What's more likely?

That Murdoch is secretly good, or that Jobs is secretly bad?
