Riots break out in Athens between right and left-wing protesters (over immigration)
Source: Monsters and Critics

Riots broke out in Athens on Saturday at a demonstration by left-wing protesters against a planned wall to stop illegal immigration between Turkey and Greece.

Around 3,000 left-wing activists wanted to demonstrate against xenophobia and stage a concert. Extreme-right protesters had also gathered to demonstrate.

Some left-wingers threw stones at the police, who reacted by firing tear gas and stun grenades at the demonstrators.

At the same time, police clashed with the right-wing demonstrators, who threw stones at the left-wing protesters and chanted anti-immigrant slogans.

Sounds like the left in Greece is trying to keep the blame for Greece's problems where it belongs (on the politicians and elite) and not sidetracked into blaming immigrants.

"His name is Theodoros, he’s a stray dog living in Syntagma square and when he’s not participating in riots he’s chasing cars (he really hates white ones…). He is very friendly (unless you ‘re a law enforcer I suppose…)"

4. Isn't there a public debate about inflammatory language?
There is a difference between irresponsible fiscal policies and manipulating the public through incitement of fear.

8. I would prefer fascists to be terrified than feel secure.
Terrified fascists do not openly organize but slink in the shadows where they belong.
