15. Mission already accomplished. The gun barrel diplomats have won
Politicians are going to be hesitant to stake out positions that incur the wrath of the nutjobs. Other civic-minded citizens are going to steer clear of politics and public service altogether.

18. the only way you'll ever see a politician again
is with many guards and lots of Plexiglas.

No more shaking the hand of a politician.

Those days are gone forever now thanks to the fanatics out there with their damned guns. :grr:

24. Yup. Retail politics, which was already on the wane, is experiencing its death throes
But that's great news for political consultants, advertisers, and PR people. And, of course, for the corporations who provide the contributions that finance those not insignificant expenses.

Rest assured, we'll still be able to figure out which corporations are bankrolling the campaign ads.

Oh. Wait. Never mind...

In short: From now on, politicians -- our public servants -- will rarely -- if ever -- be able to communicate with us directly without using their corporate masters as an intermediary.

Game Over.

9. Acevedo is a police officer?
A police spokesman wasn't aware whether Acevedo -- a state representative since 1997 and a Chicago police officer since 1995 -- identified himself as an elected official or as a police officer.

12. Weren't clear of a motive? How about terrorism, plain and simple. Oh, that's right,
No universally agreed, legally binding, criminal law definition of terrorism exists---yet we declared war on it's ass. Rummy's known unknown I suppose.

13. gag! yes, the known unknown's BS of Donny! I was disgusted to see CBS producers had wanted to put
him on an episode of 'the good wife' but it was nixed by his people because they were wanting to have him discuss in "court" the good that could come from things such as waterboarding!!! - but, in saying no, his people said he'd be willing to look at a "different script"..

he needs to appear in court for real... not play.

22. That's What I am led to believe here
Looks to me like people with guns kill people.

So with that fact, which do you remove?

25. If he had pointed his finger, that would be more concerning
It's the people part that kills, not the gun.

The bullets there would be no deaths. Seems that you require both to get a death.

23. This story couldn't possibly be true
The Illinois House's assistant majority leader had a handgun pointed at him in the Lower West Side's Heart of Chicago neighborhood over the weekend.

Since we all know Chicago has some good common sense regulations on handguns. that prevent criminals from obtaining handguns.... Oh, wait

27. Finding the perpetrator will be simplicity itself
All they have to do is round up the couple hundred people in Chicago who have handgun permits, line them up, and have Mr. Acevedo identify the one who did it.
