The old man of Easy Company is gone.

Ed Mauser of Omaha, the oldest surviving member of the 101st Airborne Division's famed Band of Brothers unit in Europe during World War II, died at his home Friday. He was 94.

Mauser, who parachuted into France on D-Day and fought across Europe, was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in late December.

“It was a long trip, but everything comes to an end,” he said in a recent interview.

6. That's very sad.

But he had a good, long run.

My dad was in the 13th Airborne(I think)and was supposed to be involved in Doolittle's raid, but alas...he got tonsilitis 2 days before go. Dad died Dec. 22nd, 2010, his 95th birthday, and I'm sad, even though he had a good, long run, too.

I hope Mr. Mauser told his family his stories, and I hope someone wrote them down. My dad told me lots of his.

After losing Major Winters earlier this month. These men were heroes, but remained incredibly humble. Godspeed, soldier. ;( :patriot:

8. The word "hero" is greatly overused these days. This was a guy who actually qualified

for the title, though.
