The New York TimesThe woman who raised a baby who had been kidnapped from Harlem Hospital in 1987 turned herself in on Sunday morning to federal authorities in Stratford, Conn., the police said.
An arrest warrant for the woman, Ann Pettway, was issued on Friday in North Carolina for violating the terms of her probation after being convicted for attempted embezzlement; officials in North Carolina have said that Ms. Pettway did not seek the required permission to leave the state.
The baby, Carlina White, recently reunited with her birth parents in New York, touching off a storm of national attention and a search by federal authorities for Ms. Pettway, who raised Ms. White, now 23, in Connecticut.
