Jordan's king swears in new Cabinet

AMMAN, Jordan — Jordan's royal palace says King Abdullah II has sworn in a new Cabinet in the wake of Egypt-inspired protests in his desert monarchy.

Prime Minister Marouf al-Bakhit heads the 27-member Cabinet, comprised of a rainbow coalition of leftist unionists, one former Muslim Brotherhood member and a renowned woman activist.

The Brotherhood refused to join al-Bakhit's Cabinet, but said it wanted to give him a chance to enact reform.
