Gay Episcopal bishop candidate receives panel's OK

Openly gay bishop candidate Rev. Gene Robinson received approval Friday from the Episcopal Committee on Consent of Bishops, the first step toward approval by the Episcopal Church's general convention, a move that would formalize his election.

Gene Robinson sounds like a wonderful person-I heard an interview with him last week and I was very impressed. He is the child of tobacco sharecroppers in rural south. Converted to his faith after attending college on a full scholarship. He sounded smart, kind and inspiring.-I hope he gets his "promotion".

2. It would be helpful to know the different steps

in this process...some groups are going to be more
conservative than others, but this is a good first step.
