Donald Trump Cancels 'Letterman' Show Over Racism Allegation

In an angry letter to David Letterman, Donald Trump claims he is pulling out of a scheduled May 18 appearance on CBS’ Late Show because the late night show host has called him a racist.

Last week, while interviewing Trump’s pal Dr. Phil, Letterman said Trump’s attacks on President Obama have started to “smack of racism.” Trump, who is flirting with a presidential run, has been questioning Obama’s citizenship and has suggested that Obama unfairly got into Harvard Law School.

Outraged at the remark, Trump wrote Letterman a personal note, stating he was "disappointed to hear the statements you made about me last night on your show that I was a 'racist,’" according to the New York Post. "In actuality, nothing could be further from the truth and there is nobody who is less of a racist than Donald Trump," Trump went on.

"Based upon your statements, and despite the fact that we have always done so well together, especially in your ratings, I am canceling my May 18th appearance on your show," he added.
