U.S. lawmakers urge release of Osama bin Laden's death photo

Two U.S. senators urged the White House to release to the public photos of Osama bin Laden’s corpse to prove that the 9/11 mastermind was really killed in the raid of his hideout in Pakistan on Sunday.

Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Joseph Lieberman and Senator Susan Collins, the top Republican in the panel, made the call on Monday when images of a bloodied face of Osama were also aired on Pakistani televisions.

Releasing the photos of the dead Osama will dispel doubts that his killing was just a ruse, according to Lieberman. The same will also counter any claim that Osama is still alive, according to Collins.

Images of the dead Osama shown on Pakistani TV channels were unverified. They show a bearded face with a bloodied temple and forehead. The right eye was shut while the left eye was nearly shut.

1. I guarantee photos and video will be released at some point.

The administration is just trying to show they are giving serious thought and full consideration to the issues related to releasing these photos. But they know absolute proof is critical to satisfy the world he is dead.

my question is, if bush's policies were so grand, how come he couldn't get bin-Laden in 7.5 years, but PO could do it in 2.5?

Agreed, those are the same jerks trying to give W. ALL the credit for this.
I don't recall any real major backlash after all the Hussein brothers death photos and videos surfaced.
This is a relief to the majority, if Muslims can't handle it, don't look.
Closure here is important enough, but if it's too gruesome, blur the gore and just show the important part.
Otherwise fakes will continue and besides, these scumbags thought nothing of releasing beheading videos.
One photo of what can happen to you, if it deters one idiot brainwashed fool, it's worth it.
The danger is the opposite, but they already have enough garbage they spew, obviously, to work their youth over.

20. They may have no choice but to release

What with the official story unraveling (he was armed/no he wasn't; there was a human shield, no there wasn't) it may be problematic to not release any photos they have.
