9/11 Families Calling for Osama Bin Laden Death Photo
Edited on Tue May-03-11 03:28 PM by Poll_Blind
Source: ABC News

A 9/11 widow is hoping that President Obama will quickly release photos documenting Osama bin Laden's death because proof that the terror mastermind is dead would be "reassuring."

Bin Laden's allies, the Taliban, said today that they are also withholding belief that bin Laden is dead until they see proof.

The White House is considering releasing photos of bin Laden's corpse.

"I have wondered where the photos have been. I just assumed the photos would get plastered everywhere," said Abigail Carter, whose husband Arron was killed in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. When she heard that bin Laden was dead on Sunday, the news brought a feeling of numbness.

8. I think it is patently clear why the photo isn't being released. The photo would
be a recruiting tool for AQ.

13. I'm not buying that. The picture of the twin towers falling is all they
need for recruiting. A dead terrorist? Not as much.

12. Even the death of lesser terrorist leaders causes mortar increases in Iraq and Afghanistan
At least wait until our troops are home before making the request. Just on a 'regular' day their lives are in severe danger, add the capture or death of one of the terrorist group leaders and their mortar and IED attacks increase. At this moment just the news of Bin Laden's death will make it CA RAZY over there. I can't even imagine what they would do with a picture of any of the attacks out there to make them go off the deep end even worse then they are.

Consider our troops and their families.

20. Because its snuff porn?
It includes pieces of skull and brain and maybe that doesn't need to be splashed on everyone's TV set during the 6 o'clock news?

If the families want to see it to give themselves peace of mind, fine. But why does the average Joe-schmoe *need* to see a picture of someone with their head blown off?

The suggestion of releasing a picture like this would have been unthinkable twenty years ago. Have we become so desensitized to violence that you honestly can't see that as a legitimate reason not to publicly release it? Or to offer only a limited release to people who really want to see it?

21. It's not snuff porn at all. It's proof, and yes we saw photos of dead people
20 years ago, 40 years ago, even 70 years ago.

Still waiting for a good reason.

3. It'd be cool to see the video.
I think that will be released in the future though, like in a decade or more.

The photo will be released. They just want people to think they were pressured into it. Burial at sea will be released too, Ill bet.

14. I agree.
The photos will be released in another day or so. If the officials did not have plans to release them, they would not confirm their existence. It is as you say - they want people to think they are pressured into releasing the photos.

Give your right arm a rest will you?

Cheering for snuff porn puts a slight question mark behind your "mr_liberal" tag ...

5. Why do they report "families" when all they quote in the article is one widow?

6. There were two other families along with bin Laden's in the compound.
If that's what you're talking about.

10. The headline says "9/11 Families" The story only talks about a single widow.
I think they interview a guy from the Taliban, but he is not a 9/11 family,

Then they talk to some psychological experts. they aren't 9/11 families either

So the headline is somewhat bogus.

11. Again, if you think there's only one 9/11 family on Earth who feels the...
..photos of a dead bin Laden would lead to closure, or that ABC is fabricating the headline....you're welcome to.

19. Reread my post, I said no such thing. Why did you put words in my mouth and attack me?
Edited on Tue May-03-11 08:21 PM by emulatorloo
There is nothing in my post that can be construed as

"if you think there's only one 9/11 family on Earth who feels the...photos of a dead bin Laden would lead to closure, or that ABC is fabricating the headline....you're welcome to"

I did not say that.

I do not believe that

I would like to know why felt you should put these words in my mouth?

The post was an attempt to help up your apparent confusion. Instead you make stuff up that I did not say.

oh well.
