NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Texas Rep. Ron Paul announced Friday he plans to seek the Republican nomination in the 2012 presidential election

"I am officially announcing that I am a candidate for president in the Republican primary," he said on ABC's "Good Morning America" early Friday morning.

Many anticipated his presidential bid was coming after Paul, 75, tweeted Thursday that he would make a "major announcement" on Friday morning.

It will be Paul's third bid for the White House. He ran as the Libertarian Party nominee in 1988 and sought the Republican nomination 20 years later in 2008

2. Reports of yawning have been flooding news bureaus everywhere.
These people (and I include Gingrich and Palin in this group with Paul) know that they have no chance. They are merely fund raising for personal reasons.

13. Sorry if I offended you, but I was referring to the many retirees...
I knew while I lived there for 13 yrs.(I'm also a retiree) I can remember how quickly they sucked up all those claims by Bush about Iraq, and how they were all set to send everybody's kids into harm's way. Truly a sad bunch of morons, and you're right. I'm not exactly living in an educational paradise, but at least my taxes are much cheaper!

10. Well, at least there will be one anti-war voice in the debates.
Actually, in the entire election season..too bad there won't be any progressives running this time. :( 2016 will be the next time we can hear progressive, anti war liberals having a voice again.

PRO - YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN BECAUSE I GOT MINE AND SCREW YOU

typical Rand follower. And I agree, he could run as a third party candidate.
