Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich owed between $250,001 and $500,000 to a top jewelry company in 2005 and 2006, Politico’s Jake Sherman reports.

The report, citing financial disclosures filed with the Clerk of the House of Representatives, noted that his wife Callista Gingrich was employed with the House Agriculture Committee until 2007. The documents indicated that she owed as much as half a million dollars to Tiffany’s.

The documents noted that the debt was her spouse’s. Gingrich spokesman Rick Tyler refused to comment to Politico on the story.

The story noted that Gingrich may have since paid off the debt, and that he will be forced to file a report of his personal finances as part of his run for president.

I just spent a few seconds looking for the Tiffany's site, and the highest bling pearl necklace is $63,000 and, granted, that is a hell of a lot of money, the prices then drop to about 5,000 per. I just can't believe that Newt spent that much on his wife, but, I could be completely wrong. I often am.

But anyway, check out the site, like any of us slobs will ever shop there. Kind of a fun fantasy, in that Holly Golightly (the movie, not the story) New York kind of way.
