Veto challenge postponed
Source: Concord Monitor

House Speaker William O'Brien backed off his plan to call a vote yesterday on the vetoed right-to-work legislation, saying he would attempt the override when he was sure it would succeed.

Despite a nearly full House yesterday, O'Brien told reporters after the session that Republican leaders needed to work harder to ensure their members show up.

"It just wasn't the appropriate time," he said. "I think we are moving to a point where we do have the numbers."

O'Brien said he delayed the vote to give his caucus a chance to "digest" recent endorsements of the right-to-work bill by the Business and Industry Association and the National Federation of Independent Business. He also pointed to the absence of three longtime state lawmakers - Rep. Norman Major of Plaistow, Rep. David Hess of Hooksett and Rep. Sherman Packard of Londonderry - saying other Republicans look to them for guidance.

1. Very interesting story in the saga of a rather interesting state
When it became clear yesterday that O'Brien would not call the vote, Rep. Tony Soltani, a Republican from Epsom, challenged him to do so. Soltani, who opposes right-to-work, said it was unfair to postpone the vote after the governor's veto message was listed in the House calendar.

I guess not all Republicans are beholden to the lunatic reich wing

2. Yeah, I'm finding that New Hampshire
doesn't fit any particular mold. Its not quite like any other place I've lived. I'm still new here, so I have a lot to learn.

4. Oh dear, it doesn't mention that in the article
Sorry, I noticed that with a lot of local newspapers they don't bother to mention the state, assuming the reader knows.
