A suicide bomber killed 24 people in Pakistan on Thursday in the latest militant attack since the death of Osama bin Laden which has angered Pakistan and led to a call for the United States to withdraw some of its military trainers.

The killing of bin Laden by U.S. special forces in a Pakistani town on May 2 has sparked a wave of militant attacks and has also led to a sharp erosion of trust between Pakistan and its ally, the United States.

A suicide car-bomber set off explosives outside a police station in the northwestern town of Hangu a day after a similar attack destroyed a police station in the city of Peshawar.

"We're trying to remove rubble and there's fear some people could be trapped," a government official in Hangu, Adil Siddique, told Reuters by telephone.

1. Pakistani Town Struck by Suicide Bombing
PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Twenty-five people were killed and 30 wounded, 10 seriously, in a suicide bombing in the southwestern town of Hangu on Thursday evening.

A official of a bomb disposal squad said the explosives were substantial, weighing nearly 1,000 pounds.

“Many people are still trapped in the rubble, and therefore the death toll may go up,” said the deputy inspector general of police, Kohat Masud Afridi.

Two police officers were killed in the bombing, which Mr. Afridi said was in retaliation for a military-backed tribal action against Pakistani militants in the Central Kurram tribal region.
