Colo. Rep. Tipton apologizes for daughter's emails

DENVER -- Colorado U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton has written a letter of apology to House ethics officers for emails his daughter sent trying to drum up business for her employer.

Tipton's 22-year-old daughter, Elizabeth Tipton, works for Broadnet Inc., a telephone conference provider that serves members of Congress. She sent emails to some lawmakers that mentioned her father.

Tipton says in his letter Thursday to Ethics Committee leaders that the use of his name was "improper" and it wouldn't happen again.

Tipton spokesman Josh Green says that Tipton is awaiting a response from the Ethics Committee but believes that the apology letter settles the matter.

When asked for a statement on the matter, Tipton spokesman Josh Green offered this statement: “Nancy Pelosi sent her top lap-dog to Colorado last week to fire-up the rumor mill with this cheap Washington political attack on a 22 year old girl. They are stooping to sleazy political attacks on Scott Tipton’s daughter rather than engaging on the issues facing the American people.”

4. I would let him off with a warning as he really doesn't have control of his daughter.

But I would check to see if she was legally registered as a lobbyist. And fine her. If she was registered it is her duty to know what she can or can't do.

sadly unless it can be proven he knew and or approve of her doing this beforehand then its not his fault and not an ethics violation imo on his part, now as for his daughters ethics it seems she could use a refresher course on what ethics mean.
