Rick Perry reverses himself, calls HPV vaccine mandate a ‘mistake’
Source: Washington Post

Religious conservatives in Texas were stunned in 2007 when Republican Rick Perry became the first governor in the country to order young girls to get a vaccine against a sexually transmitted virus that can cause cervical cancer.

The vaccine would encourage promiscuity, according to many conservatives, who had long supported Perry’s views against abortion and same-sex marriage.

It soon emerged that Perry was close to one of the lobbyists who was pushing for the order and who worked for the vaccine’s New Jersey-based manufacturer. That lobbyist, Mike Toomey, had served as Perry’s chief of staff and has since helped found a super PAC aimed at boosting Perry’s bid for the presidency.

Now Perry, who long defended the vaccine mandate, has reversed his position on the issue as he launches his GOP presidential bid, calling the order “a mistake” and saying he agrees with the Texas legislature’s decision to overturn it.

3. Perry is even worse than Geo.W.Bush. Whoever would have
thought such a thing was possible. In one word he is a Jackass, capitalized.

6. One thing I'll say nice about Chris Christie at least he had the guts
to stand up to the Sharia law flakes. I don't know if Christie will take issue with any other of their flaky stands. But Perry sure shows he lacks guts to stand up to the looney tunes in the party!

4. So, he's taking a bold pro-cancer stance here.
What other kinds of cancer would he also like to more of?

5. As a person suffering from HPV+ tonsil cancer I'm sad to say I'm not surprised.
It will take someone in his immediate family contracting the disease to even give a glimmer of hope that scientific FACT will trump religious dogma and politics.

I'm due to get a biopsy tomorrow to see if I have tumor recurrence. I think I may ask the ENT surgeon to save the tissue after histopathology so I can mail them to Perry for his collection of stupidity.

10. If he realized that the mandate was a mistake
after he handsomely profited from it, then he has no business being a President.

And Perry is dead to the GOP once it's revealed that Perry was Al Gore's campaign manager in TX in 1988.

11. Oops, Rick Perry did something right. Better apologize for that.
Republicans are filling me with rage today. I watched about 10 minutes of Fox News today and caught them making fun of Obama for going to Martha's Vineyard, saying it with a fake British accent to make him sound elitist for going to the same place every president goes ever. And on Fox and Yahoo News they were making fun of him for having a $1 million bulletproof campaign bus provided by the Secret Service. You know, an identical copy of the campaign bus whoever gets the Republican nomination will use.

My bile level is way too high today. These people are making me sick. And I bet they'd be very proud of themselves if they knew that.

12. Rick Perry's positions need a date stamp
One day he could look like a moderate, another like a right-winger.

True, other politicians change their positions. George H.W. Bush was pro-choice before he went pro-life (did it to run on a ticket with Reagan), and Kucinich was pro-life before he went pro-choice (did it because of an honest change of heart).

But Perry is all over the place depending on the political expedient.
