Dick Cheney: Hillary Clinton As President Would Have Made Different U.S.
Edited on Sun Sep-04-11 11:44 AM by onehandle
Source: AP

WASHINGTON -- Hillary Rodham Clinton isn't president, but Dick Cheney says that if she were in the White House rather than Barack Obama, then things might be different today in the country.

Cheney isn't getting into specifics, but he does think that "perhaps she might have been easier for some of us who are critics of the president to work with."

The former vice president tells "Fox News Sunday" that it's his sense that the secretary of state is "one of the more competent members" of the Obama administration and it would be "interesting to speculate" about how she would have performed as president.

Clinton lost the 2008 Democratic nomination to Obama, who went on to beat Republican John McCain in the general election. Obama named Clinton as the country's top diplomat.

I did not support Hillary in the primary, and you may flame away, but I somewhat agree. Not because of this asshole's opinion or that Hillary's policies would be much different. But because the Klan... I mean, the Tea Party probably wouldn't have been so energized.

Additionally from 2009: Hillary Clinton Questions Dick Cheney’s Credibility

"Well, it won’t surprise you, I don’t consider him a particularly reliable source of information," responded Secretary Clinton to a smattering of laughter in the hearing room.

3. So true
But I do beleive that they would have come up with other reasons to be just as rude and nasty and uncooperative. The GOP hated the Clintons.

I think they would have revived Whitewater, Vince Foster and a whole bunch of other chain email phony bullshit to keep her from being successful too.

29. I absolutely agree with Mz Pip.
The GOP would have tried to torpedo her presidency, as well. The "vast right-wing conspiracy" -- which did exist, as we all know, aside from Bill Clinton's giving them the ammo they needed -- would have geared up again so fast our heads would spin.

33. The Koch Brothers would have chewed her up and spit her out.
The Kochs planned the Tea Party for any Democrat who got elected. They would have been just as effective at destroying Hillary as they have been with Obama. And if John Edwards had gotten in, he would have been impeached and removed from office by now.

Anyone who thinks Hillary would have been more effective is living in a dream world.

"But those tears also have to be analyzed. They have to be looked at very, very carefully in light of Katrina, in light of other things that Mrs. Clinton did not cry for, particularly as we head to South Carolina where 45% of African-Americans who participate in the Democratic contest, and they see real hope in Barack Obama."

2. So, we're supposed to NOT elect a black man because it may stir-up the bigots?
Look at the teabaggers. I mean, LOOK at them. The only 'energy' that keeps most of them running is Koch money. Sorry, but if you're going to fumble about for an excuse to revive PUMA crapola, you'll have to do better than blaming the teabaggers on Barack Obama. My prediction: before day's end, the Dick of Death's quote will have provided a stalking horse for division in the Democratic party at least 20 times. Mods, PLEASE take note!

More divide and conquer. As I mentioned in another thread, the strategy is to wear out the opposition with in-fighting. The Pukes find it incredibly easy to work with Obama. They ask for things and he says yes, even offering more on occasion.

Pukes get their policies rubber stamped, then they attack Obama causing all of us that he has let down to defend him all the while being confused.

I haven't liked Obama from the word go but it gets my ire up when they criticize him after getting every thing they never even dared dream of.

PS. I supported Hillary but am totally off her now.

No 9/11
No war in Afghanistan
No war in iraq
No torture
No spying
No failed response to Katrina and the $ that was taken for the levies for the war in Iraq would have been there along with the Louisiana National Guard
No Dick Cheney Energy Task force meeting so no massive oil leak in the gulf because the requirement for the acoustic shut off valves for deep
water oil rigs would still be in effect
No secret deals with Moammar Gadhafi
No Ohio 2004
No massive wild run salmon kill in the west
No shooting a man in the face after drinking and getting away with it
No tax cuts for the rich so we would have had no deficit
No sitting around and doing nothing as the economy went to hell
No trying to kill legitimate science on global warming
No Justice Roberts and Allito ..... No citizen's united ruling
and my friend's son would not be dying from brain cancer because he was exposed to KBR's burn pits

sorry I forgot no outing a CIA agent which no doubt resulted in the deaths and torture of many people, no roll back of a CIA cover company that cost 10s of
millions to produce, and we are all less safe because Val Plame was on the trail of real WMDs.

Which I say is bull. There wouldn't had been much difference. She might had done better in some and worse in others but overall about the same.

Would health care had been on the forefront? I think it still would have. And the teabaggers would had still been there. And therefore energized. The teabaggers didn't do it on their own. They had help from the insurance companies and right wing think tanks.

That liar has not had anything worthwhile to say as long as I have been aware of him.

I think his poll numbers worldwide are in the single digits and here when they finally left office after destroying several countries including this one, his poll numbers were 13%. Now, they probably don't even register.

Obama chose not to allow any investigations to go forward of these war criminals, and as a result they are still free to lie and profit from their crimes.

Dick Cheney opening his mouth has as much significance as any other serial killer doing so.

If I were Hillary I would quickly distance myself from his remarks. He's probably trying to destroy her reputation.

63. I think he said it because he believes that it's true. What I don't
agree with is that stating something reflecting a stranglehold on the obvious stirs anything. There is no value added to analyzing his motive, especially with the blind vitriol often reflected - he's not going to run for anything.

Just acknowledge the truth of the statement with a "Well, duh" and move on.

along with Repubs and not give them a hard time. Obama was able to do what she couldn't win the Presidency and change health care in America. You have to love the idea being spread by Republicans that Obama is hard to work with. I think it is the other way around. Clinton is being pushed only because she is even more of a Washington insider. And, besides-what credibility does someone like Chaney have?

34. Bullshit!
The right's hatred of the Clintons was amply on display during Bill Clinton's presidency. They absolutely hated Hillary as well. Jesus Christ could be a Democratic President and the right would still assail and hate him. Their hatred would have had a sexist rather than a racist background. We would have had Clinton's infidelities, Whitewater, the Vince Foster affair, Monicagate and impeachment dug up all over again. Believe me, it would have been hatred and disrespect of Hillary in a different form. The tone would have been the same.

Think of the vile things said about Hillary Clinton when she was First Lady, the accusations of corruption, and even murder. For eight years we had to hear how far left wing Hillary was, how she was a communist, an atheist, a hippie...

It's not that Hillary would be easier to get along with, just that Obama is easier to hate.

And if he's not sending the racist dog whistle that they'd rather have a white POTUS regardless of gender than a black one any day of the week, the implication is that she'd have been more colloquial with the GOP.

42. The GOP's approach is to go negative, so...
...I don't doubt in the least that the 'cans would have been demonizing a President Hillary Rodham Clinton from the get-go. In fact I confess to having been somewhat relieved she wasn't the candidate because the GOP was so boorish when President Bill Clinton was in the White House. Remember then-Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich calling Hillary a "bitch"? Senator John McCain making a nasty joke about the attorney general AND the president's daughter?

nd let's not go into the festival of bile and sexism that was the GOP response to Nancy Pelosi's rise to the speakership.

So let's not fantasize about the easier road President Hillary Clinton might've had.

I do think HC would have had more legislative victories, and I'd like to think she would also have been more savvy about making her compromises look less compromising, lest she appear like a total doormat. 68. Different? Yes, she has bigger balls than Obama - thus there would have been less embarrassment
for us these past few years.

However, overall expect that where the government is now would be approximately the same. For, I saw her then, and see her now, as part of, or (more accurately) a tool of, the old plutocracy, whilst Obama is clearly a tool of the new.

I still prefer the (ever thinner) illusion of democracy under the Democrats, to the naked fist of Republican fascism.
