Police: Trucker killed 3 prostitutes across South

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Long-haul trucker John Boyer's gray beard and round face give him a grandfatherly appearance, but when he opens his mouth, he seethes with anger toward women. This hatred had murderous results, authorities said, as he picked up prostitutes around the Southeast, killed them and dumped their bodies near interstate highways. He's accused of at least three slayings and is suspected in a fourth...

The investigator was chilled by the hatred toward women from a man who had never been married and lived with his mother near Augusta, Ga....

"He said he had slept with a lot of prostitutes and a lot of them were detectives' daughters or prosecutors' daughters," Locklair said. "He just tried to get the upper hand from the start."

Because by the time they're caught, it seems they've already killed a lot of people, and overwhelmingly women and children.

It sure seems like the main thing stopping murder is societal convention. If someone is willing to ignore that, they can do a lot of damage before anyone will figure it out.

Ive not watched it, but its not reality.

Ive often wished the crazy violent would go after each other rather than harming the relatively innocent. White pride militia nuts and gang bangers seem like a great combo to take each other out, but instead they each go after women, children, etc. Serial killers never seem to go after society's "baddies". Drugged out thieves steal their neighbors only mode of transportation to work rather than some rich guys 7th Lamborghini. Everyone from both ends of each crazy spectrum make a point of preying on the middle. I am forced to believe that they are all cowards.

Serial killers just aren't the sort of personalities that would put themselves in danger. They prey on the weak. They're not assassins. They're not soldiers. They can't be made into either of those two.

I can't post a citation right now, & need to leave for a vet appointment, but I do believe that some FBI profiler(s) has mentioned that there are up to 10 serial killers active in the US at any given time.

Rare from the POV of avoiding being a victim; ie, not something I sit around worrying about, but much more common than we think.

Look at it this way: you're much more likely to lose your life to a serial killer than to get blowed-up by a Muslin. (misspelling intended for effect)

Yet the Cops spend a lot more tax $ on harassing innocent followers of Islam.



Police agencies do their best NOT to publicly attribute deaths to serial-killers. Serial-killers are very difficult to capture. Highly-organized culprits tend to be very intelligent and to have acquired enough knowledge of forensics and police tactics to evade capture indefinitely.
The unorganized serial-killer is below average in intelligence but usually so random as to be difficult to predict.

+, most serial-killers pick targets that are so devalued by society (homeless/prostitutes/aged/gay men) that they don't warrant expenditures of major resources (until some news agency alerts the public initiating an outcry).

Fact: Most cops, and nearly all police "executives" are strongly Republican. Their loyalty and interests are primarily to "useful" citizens.

Add to that the facts that serial-killers are frequently impossible to catch and Boss-Cops *hate* negative publicity and you can see why we rarely hear about serial-killers unless they're caught. They bury the knowledge that murders are connected from the public until they can crow about being heroes, or it becomes so obvious that they need to make a show about protecting the public.
