U.S. Says Pakistan Must Take Action to Break Extremist Links
Source: Bloomberg

The Obama administration called on Pakistan’s government to act against an extremist network with links to the country’s army and intelligence service.

The Haqqani network has been blamed by the U.S. for attacks on American interests in Afghanistan, including the Sept. 14 assault on the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.

“The Pakistani government needs to take action to deal with the link that exists there,” White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters traveling with President Barack Obama to an event in Denver.

Asked if the U.S. is putting pressure on the Pakistanis to take action, Carney said, “We are always reviewing our aid programs. I do not have anything new to add on that.”

4. Breaking Extremist Links
In consideration of all the wars, revolutions, etc... the U.S. is involved in, it is about as extremist as a group can be. --- If Pakistan doesn't break ties with the U.S., they will send foreign aid and NGOs to corrupt their society.

5. A Pakistani and an American came together a year ago...
... in Detroit at the VAMC there. Myself and a young surgical resident, 'Dr. Majid'. He was doing his surgical training through the Wayne State University Medical School and the Detroit Medical Center which the VAMC was affiliated with. He had the over-night duty and was on the team that did my surgery earlier in the day. He came to see how I was doing about 8pm and after the medical situation was discussed we sat for some time and talked about his world and I, mine. When it came to the 'situation' over there, we both slightly smiled and shrugged our shoulders as if to say, "What can we do?", and then went on talking about the natural beauty of northern Michigan and Kashmir, our favorite foods and other such things. Basically, just getting to know each other. I really liked his demeanor and obvious caring 'bed-side manner'. He told me to have him wakened at any time in the night if I needed to talk or had a problem. He was a very remarkable young man and I liked him immensely and pointed out to his 'Attending' the next morning on 'Grand Rounds' how helpful and caring Dr. Majid was. I like to think we both instinctively were trying to foster 'understanding' between two different peoples. I hope he looks back on our interaction as fondly as I do.

6. Does this mean Pakistan is not a terrorist nation?
One can find decent individuals from all cultures and ethnicities.

One swallow never makes it summer.

Are you going to ignore the thousands of terrorist acts committed by Pakistanis worldwide - especially in India, UK, CHechnya, Dagestan, XinJiang, Mindanao etc.?

Pakistan is a terrorist nation. Most of its citizens are decent people -- that means nothing.
