Santorum Extending Appeal Beyond Social Conservative Base
Source: KCRG

Although Santorum also addressed taxes, the economy, Obama’s vacation schedule and the threat of domestic terrorism, he came back to social issues in the end.

“Everything we’ve seen in this country over the past few years, the economic problems, was because people did things that were not consistent with the values that made this country great,” Santorum said.

He attributes to the failure to teach values.

“We don’t teach (virtue) and the institutions that do teach it, I would make the argument, the left is trying to assault it every day to destroy, which is the church and the family,” Santorum said. “Unless we have families that are stable, that can raise and support children and inculcate them with virtue and faith, we’re not going to be successful in the long-term.”

Like the family values that says it's fine and dandy to beat your disabled daughter with a belt, Ricky?

2. Maybe Rick can tutor Newt and Herm on family values and virtue.

These teaching lessons should start at home.

3. At this point every 'frontrunner' has managed to tank their own campaign
Bachmann is down and out
Perry is down and out
Cain is down and out

The teabaggers are desperate for someone who ISN'T Mitt Romney. I guess they'll test Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum for a bit.

6. "Down and Out"
A classic that seems to get more relevant by the day.

NOBODY KNOWS YOU WHEN YOU'RE DOWN AND OUT
Jimmie Cox 1923

Bessie Smith - 1929

Once I lived the life of a millionaire
Spending my money, I just didn't care
I carried my friends out for a good time
Buying bootleg liquor, champagne and wine

Then I began to fall so low
I didn't have a friend, and no place to go
So if I ever get my hand on a dollar again
I'm gonna hold on to it till them eagle's grin

Nobody knows you when you down and out
In my pocket not one penny
And my friends I haven't any
But If I ever get on my feet again
Then I'll meet my long lost friend
It's mighty strange, without a doubt
Nobody knows you when you're down and out
I mean when you're down and out

Mmmmmmmm.... when you're down and out
Mmmmmmmm... not one penny
And my friends I haven't any
Mmmmmmmm... Well I felt so low
Nobody wants me round their door
Mmmmmmmm... Without a doubt,
No man can use you when you're down and out
I mean when you're down and out

And a couple of links to people who made me aware of this tune, many, many years ago-

13. Huntsman is the logical substitute for Romney, but he is a Mormon, too, and the
other neo theos have a hard time accepting that.

If I were Republican, Huntsman is the only rider in the clown car for whom I'd consider voting.

Then again, there are very good reasons why I am not Republican, so I can't possibly put myself in their mindset.

4. Obama's vacation schedule?
Any party that allowed that lazy-ass president GW Bush to take 50% of his time in office for vacation is not allowed to criticize any other party's president on vacation schedule.

How often, really, has Obama been on vacation?

7. Republican hypocrisy is a feature, not a bug!
You're right about Bush the Dimmer...spent more than 50% of his time on vacation clearing brush on the photo-farm. So busy clearing brush, he didn't have time to worry about PDB's telling him that a terrorist attack was about to happen. Boy, was he surprised when Andy Card told him the news in that classroom that day....

5. Your statement at the end of the OP
'Like the family values that says it's fine and dandy to beat your disabled daughter with a belt, Ricky?'

12. I am begging you: Google "Santorum, frothy substance"
According to Colbert, the more it is googled, the more it will be the first response when anyone googles simply "Santorum."

So, during this campaign season, just google it as often as you can. Maybe as soon as your computer boots up.
