Strong quake jolts northern Japan, felt in Tokyo
Source: Reuters



The quake, at around 10:23 (8:23 EST), was also felt in Tokyo.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage and no tsunami warning was issued. The Geological Survey measured the quake with an initial magnitude of 5.2.

2. Chill. "Strong" is in the eye of the beholder.
Japan frequently has a number of that strength in a week. There were seven of roughly that strength around the world... today.

The earthquake in March was thousands of times as strong.

4. I know--I enjoyed rocking and rolling when I lived in Japan -- more than once.
But hey...they've had some BAD LUCK lately.

It's a natural question given their unfortunate recent history.

3. The several shorts reports I read didn't mention anything about reactors
which I found rather odd since the first thing every person in the world hearing about a Japanese quake is going to awonder about is whether any reactors are in the vicinity.
