Briefs: Price of GM's Volt in China to top $75,000

Washington— General Motors Co . said Monday that its extended-range Chevrolet Volt will cost more than $75,000 in China, when it goes on sale there in eight cities.

GM said the Volt will be sold at 13 dealerships in eight Chinese cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Foshan. It will be priced at RMB 498,000, or $75,533, the automaker said.

At one time, the British Empire ruled commerce. Then the U.S. did. Looks like it's about to be the Pacific Rim countries calling the shots in the upcoming century.
