UK 'may return Afghan asylum children next year'

Afghan children whose asylum claims have failed may be sent back to Kabul by the UK from next year.

European refugee groups have warned they risk ending up in orphanages in a war zone.

One children's rights organisation says the move may be unlawful because of a recent Supreme Court ruling.

But the Home Office, which is working with three other European countries, says it will affect only 16- and 17-year-olds whose families can be traced.

1. Greece tried repatriation of their Afghan refugee children.

Sent them back with job training and everything. It failed miserably. The Afghan government roadblocked them every step of the way. (Friend did a documentary on it for Greek TV.)

The site was a Greek TV site, but I'm not sure I still have the link or if it's still good. It was an upbeat story of repatriation to a place of hopeless poverty but a loving family. My friend kept in touch and returned to Afghanistan a number of times which is how I learned how desperate the young men were to return to Greece, and how badly the program had failed.
