SAN LEANDRO — A Black Friday shopper in Northern California was hospitalized in critical but stable condition after he was shot by an armed robber outside a Walmart store, police said.

The victim and his family were walking to their car around 1:45 a.m. when they were confronted by a group of men who demanded their purchases. When the family refused, a fight broke out and one of the robbers pulled out a gun and shot the man, San Leandro police Sgt. Mike Sobek said.

Seems that the police are all too busy at Occupy events to patrol the places where actual real crimes are happening. Not that this is news or anything.

4. California is LONG overdue for liberalized concealed weapons permits

"Shall-issue" laws work well, and ensure that permits are issued on purely objictive grounds.

Dream on. Police are great at cleaning up crime scenes but almost useless at preventing crimes.

5. I lived in San Leandro for 15 years.
I left almost 20 years ago. It was a great place to bring up kids. A good solid middle class suburb. I guess times have changed at the malls.
