(Canada PM) Harper says no decriminalization of pot on his watch

Prime Minister Stephen Harper says his government will never agree to the decriminalization of marijuana.

Harper's comments came Friday in Vancouver in response to a question at a brief news conference following an event at a downtown science centre.

"No, it will not happen under our government," Harper said. “We're very concerned about the spread of drugs in the country and the damage it's doing and as you know we have legislation before the House to crack down."

This week, four former Vancouver mayors endorsed the Stop the Violence Coalition, which is comprised of former police officers, a judge, medical leaders and B.C.'s former chief coroner.

5. Crime has been declining for many years in Canada.

So it makes total sense that its important now to spend billions on new prisons. Cannabis users are free thinkers and cannabis makes it very hard to hate anyone or anything. The Filth absolutely needs hate, he feeds off of it. The more Canadians who hate, the more he expands his base.

I really, really have no idea how you know who managed to get in and stay in. That is not me being snide, I mean I really did not think this guy would get anywhere outside of Alberta.

Granted, I do not think Cannabis is quite the Miracle some think it is, but if nothing else, it is a better source of paper, clothes and gasohol than anything else. I want it legalized throughout the North American continent it is is the only real hope we have of getting off oil.

I know Harper is a complete arrogant right wing nutbag, but from a strategic point of view; if he caved on this one subject and decriminalized pot, he'd probably get a major pass from the celebrating public for enough time to pass the rest of his draconian agenda without scrutiny. But I guess he figures that as long as he has the majority vote he is untouchable anyway, and in 4 years will be retired to his own private island somewhere.
