Romney, Obama tops with donors (Ne)

If money talks, Republican Mitt Romney has the edge in Nebraska and Democratic President Barack Obama still holds sway with his supporters.

Romney was the top fundraiser out of eight GOP presidential candidates in Nebraska, while the president came in first overall in the most recent financial reports for the election cycle, which includes all donations over $200.

Romney, who is considered a front-runner in the race, garnered strong support from some of the state's top businessmen, including Michael Simmonds, chairman of Simmonds Restaurant Management, and Paul Aaron, founder of Pinnacle Sports.

Romney and Obama also led the race for dollars in neighboring Iowa. Obama came in first overall, with Romney outpacing the Republican field, though Romney has invested minimal effort in winning this year's Iowa caucuses.

2. Actually, his money is coming from a broad swath of Republican donors who want to win...
...the General Election.

I read a story that stated that75% of the "Bush Bundlers" were backing
Romney this cycle. That's a pretty good sign that Romney will emerge
from all the Republican Primary Kabuki theatre as the eventual nominee.
