Conrad Murray sentenced to four years behind bars
Source: MSNBC

LOS ANGELES — The doctor who was convicted in the overdose death of Michael Jackson was sentenced to the maximum four years in prison Tuesday in a finale to the tormented saga of the King of Pop.

Dr. Conrad Murray sat stoically with his hands crossed as Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor repeatedly chastised him for what he called a "horrific violation of trust" while caring for Jackson.

Murray will likely only serve two years due to California jail overcrowding.

"Dr. Murray created a set of circumstances and became involved in a cycle of horrible medicine," the judge said. "The practice of propofol for medicine madness, which violated his sworn obligation, for money, fame, prestige and whatever else may have occurred."

2. Interesting that the judge
defered any further discussion on the subject of loss of earnings by Michael Jackson until the amount claimed of US$101 million can be substantiated. He appeared to consider the figure incredible.

3. He probably made more after his death
So maybe Murray should get a percentage of his after death earnings?

4. Sammy Haggar once said
I once had a drug problem and now I can afford it. This guy is living proof of such a statement.

5. yawn-- the irony is that Jackson simply bought whatever he wanted...
...and if Murray didn't sell it to him, someone else would. Frankly, I've always regarded Jackson's death as slow suicide by someone with the means to subvert all of life's "safety instructions." Elvis Presley did the same thing, IMO.

6. If LIndsay Lohan can only spend a few minutes in jail
Why wouldn't that be an appropriate penalty here? Besides the Jackson family is going to spend the rest of their miserable untalented lives making his life miserable (for free, no taxpayer dollars required), isn't that enough?

He's not a danger to anyone anymore, now that he has his prescription pad taken away.

7. Michael Jackson would have found a way to get what he wanted
with or without Dr. Murray. Murray was one of many who assisted him along the way, but he is taking the rap for them all. I hope the others recognize their good fortune.

8. Jackson doctor gets 4-year sentence, judge's ire
Source: AP-Excite

By LINDA DEUTSCH

LOS ANGELES (AP) - It was clear that Michael Jackson's doctor was going to get the maximum four-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter before the judge even finished speaking.

In a nearly half-hour tongue lashing, Dr. Conrad Murray was denounced as a greedy, remorseless physician who committed a "horrific violation of trust" and killed the King of Pop during an experiment.

"Dr. Murray created a set of circumstances and became involved in a cycle of horrible medicine," Judge Michael Pastor said in a stern voice.

Pastor said Murray sold out his profession for a promised fee of $150,000 a month when he agreed to give Jackson a powerful anesthetic every night as an unorthodox cure for insomnia.

10. Because of prison overcrowding
it has been reduced to two years of solitary.

I bet he writes a book about Michael.

11. If you'd manned up and taken a plea deal, doc, you could have been past this by now,

and possibly without doing hard time or losing your license. Instead, you tried to place the blame on someone who was too dead to defend himself!

13. Dr. Murray still has his M.D., and could go back to Trinidad
after completing his sentence. They need doctors there. I hope he has a nice life, and can forget all about this.
