More than 200 arrested in Occupy LA raid
Edited on Wed Nov-30-11 07:42 AM by dipsydoodle
Source: Associated Press Nov 30, 7:30 AM EST

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- In a massive show of force, 1,400 police officers, some in riot gear stormed the Occupy Los Angeles camp early Wednesday, driving protesters from the park and arresting more than 200 who defied orders to leave. Similar raids in Philadelphia led to 50 arrests, but the scene in both cities was relatively peaceful.

Police in Los Angeles and Philadelphia moved in on Occupy Wall Street encampments under darkness Wednesday in an effort to clear out some of the longest-lasting protest sites since crackdowns ended similar occupations across the country.

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck praised the officers and the protesters for their restraint and the peaceful way the eviction was carried out.

>

There were no injuries and no drugs or weapons were found during a search of the emptied camp which was strewn with garbage after the raid. City workers put up concrete barriers to wall off the park while it's restored.

8. EXACTLY. LAPD razed and trashed the tents.
Multiple media sources are now trashing OLA for the "big mess" (without mentioning it's LAPD's mess).

KTLA's metereologist (!) said, "It looks almost like a war zone." He also commented that "It almost looks like there wasn't a trash can to be found anywhere." :eyes:

6. I missed that at first...
I saw the no drugs or weapons and was glad to see that, and then the trash comment. I was just there recently and they had several city trash bins there for trash as well as recycling. It didn't appear dirty at all. Maybe it looked dirty after the cops raided their site... I mean there were a lot of people there and a raid will cause a mess.

9. What I saw
Watching "Freedom" on Ustream, was there were plenty of trash cans. However, the occupiers used them to set up a barrier which the cops kicked over.

14. Dance with the shadows and you will get sucker punched
Come-on now, in just about any facade the people will eventually find the holes in the story and start pointing them out. We are reaching the tip point, the 1% is out of fixes and the 99% are starting to storm the walls. The details are just that, but that pattern and story line remain the constant. Technically we have been living a fascist state abut 70 years but what we are looking at now is the 1% wanting to implement a totalitarian state. It's a fart in the wind but the still that 1% will have that only choice left to them. It's that choice of getting only more frantic as the unraveling continues. It's just like a song and just keeps playing over and over again

18. "We are legion. We do not forget. We do not forgive. Expect us"
Goes the anonymous message.

We have to forgive those in the 99% that were kept in the dark even more though.

Anonymous is supporting our occupy here.

One fight, on the streets and on the intertubes.
