TAMPA — Police arrested 29 Occupy Tampa demonstrators during a peaceful protest Thursday night after, police said, the protesters refused to leave a park.

More than 100 members of the Occupy Movement marched from Curtis Hixon Park, where the movement has been based, to Riverfront Park around 10 p.m. to demonstrate their desire to sleep in city parks.

1. Ugh....I'm not so sure sleeping in the parks is the answer.
Seems to be this is where the reich wingers are getting all the ammo to paint the demonstrators with a broad brush as rapists, public defecators, slobs, etc. I realize it gets their attention much more seriously than marchers in the streets...but it also makes for some unwanted and negative problems and responses.

I'm all for the movement, although I haven't participated in a demonstration yet; but just not sure how this tents in the park portion is going to play out for us.

2. i've been with OT since Oct. 6th and this has been the most arrested at one time
but it is very sanitized to what has been going on for the last two months. Tampa has a TANK, google it! Look at the youtube vid's from day one and see how TPD goes after, every night people of color, people who ask the tough question, We've had over 50 of our brothers and sisters arrested day in and day out. The TPD have on a nightly hard footed crack down stolen hundreds of political signs, sleeping bags, bikes, backpacks, carts & dolly's, our library, On Thanksgiving they took all our food that was donated (3 turkeys), Cold weather clothing donated by the Catholic church.

I know everyone that has been arrested and I know their caricature. We are a slice of America, nothing more.

5. we have siome right wing trolls
infesting wmnf's news board, bragging about how the TPD will target people to be hauled into jail right before the GOP convention, so as to discourage protest.
