LAPD Undercover cops infiltrated Occupy camp before raid, sources say
Source: LA Times

The Los Angeles Police Department's effort to evict Occupy L.A. protesters from their camp at City Hall included using Occupy undercover officers in the weeks leading up to Wednesday's raid, a police source said.

None of the officers slept in the camp, the official said. Instead, they tried to blend in to gather information about potential problems or complications -- such as any weapons being stashed or protesters planning to resist -- that the LAPD might face when the raid occurred.

The official said the information the officers gathered was helpful but downplayed the significance, saying that since so much of the Occupy meetings were public, information about protesters intentions were easily attained. The source spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case was ongoing.

1. Those bold, intrepid LAPD officers... Why infiltrate a drug cartel or street gang...
... When you can show up at an OWS General Assembly, ransack some tents, and terrorize peaceful demonstrators... Who are fighting for your own damn pensions.

2. No shit, farmbo...well said...
What do you bet that these intrepid undercover officers found nothing that wasn't already in plain sight...#OWS has nothing to hide, really.

And guns/weapons? This aint no teaparty rally...but then, of course, if it was, you would have the policia looking the other way, even with wingnuts strapping heat to their leg in plain sight.

of anonymity = psy-ops campaign to damage morale among Occupiers.

Hey LAPD, news flash, we infiltrated your skanky asses too. But we didn't gain any useful information from our infiltration because 'police intelligence' is a fucking oxymoron.

On edit: I just called out the LA Times for its shoddy journalism in sucking up to 'anonymous city officials' - I'm sure my comment will not be posted by the censors and stooges at the Times.

6. OWS is making very clear that we live in a police state. Between the feds (even
State Department has its own armed thugs), local Homeland Security, police, National Guard, mercenaries, etc., we are probably outnumbered.

For the first time in my life, I thought maybe I should learn to use a weapon.

(Please God, don't let this post attract the gun posters, please, I'm begging.)

8. That's what our Committee on Counter-Intelligence discovered

when we infiltrated LAPD. (Its headquarters, after all, were right across the street from our Committee headquarters so infilitrating it was a piece of cake.) We discovered a bunch of aging overweight white males, many of whom had photos of Daryl Gates gracing their desks. We left them a few donuts when our infiltration concluded.

But, yeah, 'worthless' about captures it.
