Newt accepts Trump debate: 'How could you turn down The Donald?'
Source: Politico

Newt Gingrich has become the first GOP hopeful to accept the NewsMax/Donald Trump debate invitation, and explained to reporters why a bit ago: "How could you turn down The Donald?"

"I would want to go just for the entertainment value," he added, noting he's meeting with Trump on Monday in Manhattan. But he quickly added, "Trump is a unique American character...it'd be like if Bill Gates called asking for a debate presence."

Let the Birther Debate begin!

Sure, Trump is just like Bill Gates -- the only difference being that Bill Gates started with nothing and earned his wealth over his career, whereas Orly Trump inherited gazillions, mismanaged it, filed for multiple bankruptcies and then was forced to grovel for a reality TV salary to maintain his egomaniacal standard of living.

I have to wonder, though - is this where Donald will finally produce his promised tax returns or tell us what 'amazing things' the investigators of his Hawaiian Birther Task Force found on their top secret mission? Still waiting for the starstruck media to call him out on that lie.

I normally would say it's a cheap shot to use those pics, but in the case of these guys, they deserve it.
And it captures their personalities so nicely.

5. BTW, here's an old gem from Newt that's relevant:
“The people who are standing with this campaign have rejected reality TV politics,” he added, “and they hunger for the kind of nuanced debate worthy of our national history.”
-- Oh wait. That was just two days ago when he said that.

7. Bill Gates isn't Trump, that's for sure. But he didn't start with nothing.
Edited on Sun Dec-04-11 02:29 AM by pnwmom
His father was a wealthy attorney who could afford to send him to the most prestigious private school in Seattle, and from there to Harvard. And after young Bill dropped out, his father gave him a nice chunk of change (about $100K, if memory serves) to help him get his company started.

So, not Trump -- but he did have a leg up from his dad. His wasn't a rags-to-riches story.

I think Gates' choice of a spouse indicated a lot about him. He could have afforded a bimbo, if he had wanted one. Or even a series of them, like The Donald.

28. yes, that was my thought
so, they're going to be agreeing with each other most of the time. Maybe they'll debate on who has the best hair or suit. Or maybe they'll debate on how much they can each out do each other on taking away anything that will help children, the ill, the elderly or the poor. Or who has the most draconian labor policy, especially when it comes to putting those lazy children back to work. Or who has the best arse kissing policies for corporations and the wealthiest.

34. Turning down
The Donald (TM) would probably be the best thing for his campaign. I read that Ron Paul's campaign turned it down in a "You must think I'm crazy if you think I'm going to do a debate with you involved" way. I loved reading that. Anyone that flips off Trump gets a day pass with me.
