Amanda Knox seeks book deal to tell murder trial story

Amanda Knox has hired a top lawyer and literary agent to help her sign a book deal, a spokesman for the family says.

Washington DC-based Robert Barnett will represent her in talks with publishers.

He has helped broker book deals for US Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W Bush, as well as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Mr Barnett is a high-powered attorney and behind-the-scenes operator who also negotiated former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's contract with Fox News.

there are people willing to spend money to read the twisted garbage that is spewn from the deranged minds of dubious members of our society. My dog people, just because there is a book that exists, does not mean that it is worthy of being read. Accordingly, just because words have been put into a sentence on a page, for the purpose of extracting a financial gain, does not mean that the sentence represents the truth. Nor does it mean that any person who reads that sentence will ever have at their disposal, a means of determining if that sentence is true or false. I am not talking about intellectual ideas that are worthy of consideration by inquiring minds. I am talking about "he said, she said", one sided accounts; the truth of which will never be known by most people.

I believe that anyone who spends money to buy a book, either as a source of enlightenment or as a source of entertainment, has an intellectual responsibility to themselves to first inquire in their thinking, if the author and the publisher of said book, whose wealth they are about to contribute to, deserve to be made more wealthy as a result of the expenditure of money that they are about to make. Most of the people who are incensed by the fortune that has been amassed by the grifter, Sarah Palin, are the same people whose hard earned money has helped to make her that way.

she's a normal american college student studying overseas, caught in a nightmare she had nothing to do with, who got fucked over by incompetent police work and overzealous prosecutors. she was cleared by the appeals court of everything but defaming her boss, an accusation extracted under duress. that charge would have been thrown out, also, in an american appeals court.

she has every right to tell her story, and given the debt her family incurred fighting her conviction, little choice.

Gee, nothing about her DNA being on the murder weapon or anything, or that she blamed others and changed her story so many times. There is a lot of real evidence that many people aren't aware of. Poor little Amanda...my heart really cries out for the conniving sociopath.

She did a GREAT job portraying a heartless, unfeeling sociopath, didn't have to work at it very hard. She wasn't too great playing the poor, put-upon, innocent American victim of the big bad heartless media.

and i agree, guede certainly knows and isn't saying. that article proves nothing.

it's truly amazing how you can look at her and be convinced of the exact opposite of what i, and most americans see. you're like a dog with a bone, and you cannot admit the possibility that you've been wrong all along. she and rafello had no motivation to commit this crime, and if she's a conniving sociopath, she would have done a much better job of planning.

i don't understand how you could see her anxiety at the trial, or tears of joy and relief when she got back to seattle, and not think it was genuine.

her low profile since her release is also evidence of a non-sociopathic character - has she been on american tv, enjoying the spotlight? no, she's been laying low, making no statements, until announcing this book deal.

i have to ask - are you in America? if not, where are you?

8. I'd say she deserves any money she earns from writing this book

She was wrongly imprisoned for nearly 4 years. Her family spent much money traveling to see her, and defense lawyers aren't cheap.

This story was a travesty of justice. Especially since they already had the real murder (rudy gurde) arrested and imprisoned.

on this one. Before I knew much about the case i just assumed she was guilty. Having read up, what happened to her appears to be just awful, almost rising to maliciousness. I don't begrudge her one book dollar.

And what happened to her really has little bearing on the victim. The girl was murdered and thinking that Knox got a horrible deal doesn't take away from sympathy for the victim's family unless you think that Knox did it. I don't, and I'm going to have to see some actual evidence to change my mind.

7. I'd like to see

Meredith Kercher's family get a book deal to discuss their journey through the Italian Justice System. Seriously. My fiance is from Southern Italy - his family had strong thoughts on this . . . His mom is adamant that if Meredith had not been a half-brown person(Italy has it's "issues" just as France, Spain, the Netherlands, etc. etc.) she would have gotten a fair shake.

In the meantime - there has been some fall out in terms of tourism dollars from the UK.

I won't be buying the book - because I'm far more interested in what the Kercher family has to say than Amanda Knox. She got her day in court and was acquitted. Move on. Let the Kerchers do what they can to get some justice for their daughter and sister and step out of the limelight.

the Italians convicted 3 people when 1 committed the crime. i'd say that's TOO MUCH 'justice'. other than not convicting 2 innocent people, what should they have done to deliver 'justice'?

what would constitute 'justice' if not a murder conviction and prison sentence? Italy sentenced Rudy Guede to 30 years in prison. He was a penniless drifter, he has no money to extract in a civil judgment.

are you interested in what Rafaello Sollecito has to say? Or do you only reserve your ire for Amanda Knox?

An American woman studying in a foreign country, arrested for a murder she didn't commit, charged by a prosecutor who believed that she was a devil worshipper, forced to become the focus of a trial that became headline news in three nations, convicted by questionable evidence, and locked in a cell for four years, and eventually acquitted and freed after assuming that her life was over...

No matter what your opinion is of Knox and the status of her guilt, it's certainly a fascinating story. We've heard little from her over the years, and it will be interesting to hear her perspective on the whole thing.
