Newt Gingrich surge prompts Mitt Romney reboot

PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. — Mitt Romney, facing anxiety from some of his own supporters after sliding back to second in a slew of polls, took a series of steps Tuesday to signal he’ll get more aggressive in the final weeks before voting begins.

Romney also indicated that he’s prepared for a long slog toward the Republican nomination – a nod to supporters who are getting spooked by Newt Gingrich’s growing lead in first-in-the-nation Iowa.

“I’ve still got about seven more days of fundraising, and then we get to spend almost all of our time politicking in New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina, Florida, a couple other states,” Romney told reporters here.

He also said that he was abandoning his media cocoon and planned to do more interviews in coming days.

2. A strong smell of desperation.

When you've been campaigning for president for at least a year this time, and did it again four years ago--arguably never really stopping--to "reboot" and change tactics a month before voting starts is a tacit admission that you're losing. And it basically never works, in fact more often it backfires.

and then after getting a nice big whiff of the maggot infested scat dropping it to the ground to pick up the next to see if it smells any better. In the end Romney will be the candidate grudgingly tapped to run against Obama only to receive a righteous stomping that will make the McCain beating look like a tight race.

10. If anyone reading this wants to be the Republican nominee, I suggest you go for it.

You probably have as good a chance as anyone, especially if you know how to use Biblegateway, are heterosexual and have no divorces or adulteries to hide.

Just sayin'

In fact, if you are homosexual, you might even have a shot if you have nothing else to hide. After all, there's Cheney and the Rethugs seem to love him and his gay daughter.

However, if you are actually registered Democratic (as opposed to "unenrolled" or Indie, you might want to see if that can be removed from your record.

In fact, if you are a strong Democrat, all the better if you run. It would be fantastic to have two Democrats running for President in the general election, no matter which letters they put behind their names.

Not that I am encouraging fraud. But, it would be lovely.
