Police officer shot at Virginia Tech
WASHINGTON | Thu Dec 8, 2011 1:26pm EST

(Reuters) - Virginia Tech University, site of a 2007 massacre that killed 32 people, said Thursday that a police officer and one other person had been shot in an incident on campus.

"A police officer has been shot. A potential second victim is reported," the university said on its Twitter feed.

"Stay indoors. Secure in place," the message said.

The school described the suspect as a white male in gray sweat pants and a maroon sweat shirt.

5. Virginia Tech Shooting: Shots Fired At Virginia Tech, Gunman Spotted

Gunshots were reported near a parking lot on the Virginia Tech campus on Thursday, according to a Twitter alert issued by the school.

The suspect is reportedly a "white male, gray sweat pants, gray hat w/neon green brim, maroon hoodie and backpack." The campus has been put on lockdown.

I remember it clearly because my son had just been born and I was recovering from the surgery. I often watched news and it played 24/7 for several days. 32 folks were killed in that rampage - it was horrible.
