Disputed is whether what took place inside constituted a joke.

Commissioner Fred Skillern insists it did.

"I said, 'Why don't we go back to the Constitution when the only voters were white male property owners?'" he said when reached by phone.

Yeah, hilarious... you should tell that one at the comedy club, mr. funnyman.

"It was kind of like guys stand around locker rooms and tell dirty jokes," he said. "It shocked me that he would say that in front of someone he just met 10 seconds ago."

You were white--that is why he felt comfortable saying that to another white guy because he assumes, on some level, that you were down with his point of view by virtue of a gene mix over which you had no control.

Perhaps dude should read a little Tim Wise to find out why this guy would say that to someone he just met 10 minutes prior.
