Euro crisis: US General Martin Dempsey warns of unrest
Source: BBC

The top US military commander, Gen Martin Dempsey, says he is concerned about "the potential for civil unrest" as Europe's financial crisis unfolds.

Gen Dempsey said it was unclear the latest steps taken by EU leaders would be enough to hold the eurozone together, adding that a break-up could have consequences for the Pentagon.

He suggested that part of his concern was that the US military could be exposed to any unravelling of the eurozone "because of the potential for civil unrest and the break-up of the union".

The US military has more than 80,000 troops and 20,000 civilian workers in Europe, many based in Germany.

1. Will US troops be deployed on the streets of Europe to "maintain order?" That could happen.

2. Oh, so now the US Military is Rent-a-Cop for Euro governments...
...to keep their citizenry in line? Maybe it's time to close those Cold War bases and bring the troops home. That way they can be available to deal with civil unrest in this country. Oops..should I have added the :sarcasm: smiley? Not so sure.....

5. Haven't they always been?
Rent-a-cops for the capitalist elite that is. We need soldiers councils in the WORST way.

3. So the most obvious solution is to bring them home, right?
Right?

6. I expect there is going to be major unrest in Europe....
If this all plays out we are probably facing demonstrations of millions of Europeans on a daily basis against governments with security forces incapable of managing the unrest. It would be folly, in my view, for the U.S. to offer any use of our military to assist with any attempts to restore public order. Europeans need to understand their priorities of lavishing benefits on their citizens was perhaps short-sighted and they now need to face the need to maintain order.

On the other side of the Atlantic, however, wholesale revolution is going to break out. As the people become aware of how much they have been duped and screwed by the 1$, revolution will break out. The U.S. military is going to have its hands tied on keeping order in the U.S. Posse Comitas will be scrapped and U.S. soldiers will be in every neighborhood unless the rank and file realize their loyalty and affiliation is with the 995. It is what has happened in many revolutions including in Russia in 1917. Don't sell our military folks short.

7. Yep we need to see soldier assemblies
organized in the military ASAP. The EMs need to be able to control their own destiny when it comes to American citizens fighting for their rights. Not to mention we're going to need them against the Xi mercenary thugs.
