Blizzard sweeps out of the Southwest

A powerful blizzard roared out of the southwestern United States early Monday, threatening residents from Arizona to Kansas with a foot or more of snow. <snip>

Snow, falling at a rate of up to two inches an hour, is expected in the mountains of Arizona and New Mexico, the National Weather Service said.

The snow is forecast to start battering northeast New Mexico on Monday morning. State emergency personnel and transportation crews there are on call, officials say, ready to act if and when the storm hits hard. <snip>

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for much of Monday and Tuesday in large swaths of northeast New Mexico, southeast Colorado, southwest Kansas, northern Texas and the Oklahoma Panhandle.

1. I guess we on the East Coast will be getting some of this by end of week...

Thanks for the post. Since the "Weather Channel" turned into Entertainment/Infomercial TV...I find it hard to see National Weather. Have to go online for it. So always appreciated DU'ers in parts of the country posting weather.

3. i'm in phoenix. no snow, but the temps have

been in the 50s. the normal for this time of year is 68.

5. Weather Channel showing snowplows in the ditch...

and snow blowing crazy sideways across I-70 in Kansas...three semi-trucks hauling cattle jack-knifed, stranded for the night...no visibility for driving.

It's beginning to look a lot like...
