1. LINK: Giants Upset Packers to Reach N.F.C. Title Game
GREEN BAY, Wis. — In the back of the end zone, Mario Manningham danced and shimmied. On the sideline, Tom Coughlin pumped his fist. In the middle of the field, Eli Manning raised his hands.

There were still just under seven minutes remaining Sunday, but the Giants knew. So did Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who looked nauseous near the Green Bay bench. The Packers’ fans at Lambeau Field, so many of them wearing down hunting jackets in the icy air, knew too: they had just seen the kill shot. Again.

Four years after the Giants beat the Packers here in the N.F.C. championship game on their way to a Super Bowl title, they did it again Sunday in a divisional game in far more convincing fashion. Manning’s 4-yard touchdown pass to Manningham was his third scoring toss of the day as the Giants upset top-seeded Green Bay, 37-20. The Giants will travel to San Francisco next Sunday needing only one more victory to reach the Super Bowl yet again.

For the Giants, the victory is a continuation of a run that began Dec. 24, when they beat the Jets to set up a win-and-in matchup with the Dallas Cowboys in the final game of the regular season. They won that, pounding the Cowboys, then beat the Atlanta Falcons in the wild-card round before becoming the first road team in this postseason to win.

6. Tough choice, since we liberals are supposed to be Packers supporters
But my Dad was a big Giants fan. They won the 1991 Super Bowl just after he died and I couldn't help thinking that he had something to do with that 4th quarter field goal that put them one point ahead... ;) :hi:

I've been a Pack fan along with the Bengals forever, but since Green Bay won it all last year, I'm backing the Nuuuu-Yawk Giants!

8. When I followed football, I was a fan of the Cowboys
But that was the Tom Landry Cowboys, so I guess I'm dating myself. I also liked Miami, the Bob Griese-Larry Csonka-Jim Kiick Dolphins. :hide:

My Dad was a Roger Staubach fan, and I followed most of the teams that he did. I was also a big Bill Russell fan as a kid... :D :hi:

4. win big??
won good but not big.. only 17 points. not a knockout. if it was 10 to 20 at half 20-37 it looks like it was a good game

Still Packers dug their own grave when they continued to abuse their stars...

9. Agree with you! I'm still in shock
NY Giants weren't favored to win against a team with a 15-1 record. Especially on their home field. But I just loved that Hail Mary Pass! Awesome! Great game. Did you see Saturday's game between the 49ers & the Saints? One of the best games ever! My husband & I were getting dizzy watching the score change ever few minutes! LOL! What an incredible game! Think the NY Giants will have their hands full with the 49ers...still I hope the NY Giants can win. Was a really exciting football season, so many good teams!

10. exactly, they beat a 15-1 team at home by 17! huge win
and that Hail Mary pass was answered by her, ha! what a great game, and oh my, yes the Niners game was thrilling!

a great season. my Bengals even made the playoffs as a bunch of rookies doubled their projected win total, so that was unexpected, well except for dear ol Mom. She said the Bengals would make the playoffs and she was right!

Go Giants, if I gotta pick a team.

17. I'll take my old team, the 49ers!
I quit following them with Joe Montana was traded to Kansas City.

Don't know a damn thing about them now....looked up the current QB, Alex Smith, from Utah....geez, I hope he isn't a descendant of the Joseph Smith. After all, Montana was replaced by Steve Young, a descendant of Brigham Young.

I have a difficult time getting behind Mormons. I still look at them as some kind of cult. And WTF is it w/ their weird underwear????

Go Niners! I'm not much of a fan of the Mannings....so repugnant.
