Larry Flynt announces bid for Calif. governor
BEVERLY HILLS (Reuters) - Calling himself a "smut peddler who cares," porn king Larry Flynt on Monday formally announced his bid for California governor but acknowledged that voters might not be able to stomach his sleazy background.

"I don't think the business I am in has anything to do with being a good governor," the Hustler magazine publisher and casino developer told a news conference in his opulent, black and gold Beverly Hills office.

But Flynt said that if private polling over the next few days showed he had no chance of winning the October election to unseat Democratic Gov. Gray Davis (news - web sites), he would not waste millions in a campaign bid.

1. Flynt is a good businessman.....
He has no shame nor does he tryand hide it like many political pundants.....I think it would smack that Issac guy who paid for thr recall signatures, right in the face if Flynt was to be elected.

His nomination can be a win-win situation for California and democrats.

2. this is one strategy that I thought about...

...flood the ballot with hundreds, perhaps thousands of candidate to turn public opinion against a recall.... just think if you got.... how many signatures does it take to get on? If you got that many people in a room to sign 1,000 petitions and if you had 3.5 million dollars you could get 1,000 candidates on the ballot just like that.

3. I'd like to see him win
if only to piss off the religious right -- especially since right-wing nutjub Issa invested heavily to make the recall happen in the first place.
