USA's new money-saving export: White-collar jobs...
White-collar employees have long believed their jobs were safe from the economic forces that have shifted millions of factory jobs to foreign countries in the last 30 years.
Not anymore.

It's not just clothing and electronics being made by workers in India, China and similar places. Now, office and professional jobs are being shipped out — raising the specter that skilled white-collar workers could face the same devastating job losses that decimated the manufacturing industry.

Almost any professional job that can be done long-distance is suddenly up for grabs. Jobs done by financial analysts, architectural drafters, telemarketers, accountants, claims adjusters, home loan processors and others at higher levels of the labor food chain are being farmed out to workers in other countries.

"We're not just talking about call-center jobs, but all kinds of jobs," says Deloitte Consulting analyst Christopher Gentle. "It doesn't leave any part of the corporation untouched."

These include high-paying, highly sought-after jobs that often require advanced degrees and years of study to attain. But instead of paying six-figure salaries to trained workers in America, more companies are shelling out $10,000 to $20,000 to get cheaper employees an ocean away.

Major U.S. companies, including such giants as IBM, Microsoft and Procter & Gamble, are leading the pack. Tens of thousands of jobs already have been shipped out, and analysts project that millions more will go in coming years.

2. What are they going to do...
When they reduce us all to taking McJobs...and our buying power (to buy THEIR products) to crap?

Let 'em try to sell all those Air Jordans and Windows XP packages to the folks with those "new white-collar jobs" over in India and see how much profit is in that market! :eyes:

They're all really busy sawing off the limb they're sitting out on!

B-)

6. Does seem odd, doesn't it?
They off-shore all the jobs of all the people who buy the crap that keeps them in business.

Hey, Murkan Capitalists! Have you forgotten that it's the "White-Collar" folks who buy all those SUV's, college educations for their spawn, Yachts, Snowmobiles, airplanes, 300 kilobuck McMansions, etc.?

Walmart greeters rent run-down double-wides, don't travel, and drive 1979 ford Escorts...

Ah, well, when the whole thing comes crashing down around their ears, they'll pop the ripcords on their "Golden Parachutes" and sail off to the Carribe and we'll be left to bathe in their Golden Shower.....

7. They don't want...
Too many people to get college-educated. Raises their pay, doncha know. Nope, they are making the US into a new third-world nation. That's their plan.

Gotta have a large underclass. It provides the scale of contrast that keeps the rich satisfied and comfy and happy.

5. Two College Degrees and a Commercial Pilot's License
Down the drain. At least there is a Wal-Mart within walking distance and a new curriculum at the local Community College for Wal-Mart greeters.

Oh Well!

8. A South American Style Economy
That's where we're headed. Two classes - rich and poor - what good is having money if you can't flaunt it? The money that people in the middle class were earning during the Clinton years was enabling them to start living at a level that heretofore was only available to the rich. How horrible it must be to see the hordes of the great unwashed invade your country club.

10. Cheap Labor Conservatives
are no doubt loving this. Too bad they can't see (or don't care about) the enivitable consequences: the top 1 or 2 percent get to be filthy rich and EVERYONE else will be poor. There won't even be enough low paying unskilled jobs to go around.
